Cultural Quarter's priority update As a conclusion for this Quarter's priorities the team have developed and undertaken the following actions in relation to our priorities. Tackling Summer ASB • Enhanced Patrols: With support from specialist departments, high-visibility patrols have increased in the Cultural Quarter to deter drug dealing. • Safeguarding: Officers continue working closely with partner agencies to identify and protect individuals vulnerable to exploitation. ASB Reduction Initiatives: • Increased Patrols: Foot and bike patrols have been stepped up in parks, the town centre, and known ASB hotspots. • Robust Enforcement: Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), particularly around alcohol consumption, are being enforced firmly. • Youth Engagement: The team is collaborating with youth services to offer diversionary activities and early intervention. • Dispersal Powers: These are being used where appropriate to prevent escalation and maintain public safety. Reducing Vehicle Crime • Beat Surgeries: Officers continue to engage with the public through beat surgeries, offering advice on safeguarding personal belongings and vehicles, particularly in car parks. • Joint-Agency Collaboration: A multi-agency meeting was held to identify repeat locations and develop joint strategies to deter vehicle crime. • Priority Arrests: Repeat offenders have been targeted, with arrests prioritised and strict bail conditions imposed to prevent further offences. Disrupting Drug Supply • Daily dedicated patrols around Museum Square and New Walk have provided visible reassurance to the public and helped gather valuable community feedback. • Officers have issued multiple Section 59 Warning Notices to vehicles involved in anti-social behaviour. Repeat offenders have had their vehicles seized, with several recovered due to non-compliance. • Officers have attended sessions such as the Youth Engagement Programme (YEP), offering advice on ASB and answering questions from young people. The team remains committed to proactive engagement and enforcement to keep our communities safe and informed. Our new priorities will be posted tomorrow. Kind regards, Joe Culverwell PS 661
